Impossible to install Plex on a NAS Synology DS211+ (DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 4)

Hi there. I have an issue while installing Plex on my NAS.

I have downloaded all the possible versions of Plex for NAS (PlexMediaServer-1.14.1.5488-cc260c476-x86_64.spk, PlexMediaServer-1.14.1.5488-cc260c476-x86.spk and PlexMediaServer-1.14.1.5488-cc260c476-arm7.spk) but no one works.

Each time, I have an error: “This package is not supported on the DiskStation platform or is incompatible with the current version of DSM.”.

I have a Synology NAS DS211+ with the DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 4. How can I install Plex? Thanks.

Kind regards,

T.

Hi.

Thanks for the answer, I just discovered Plesk but it’s too late

If I install Plesk on my desktop (Ubuntu), I can see the movies of my NAS? Great news!

It seems that I can’t use my NAS as a classic storage if I am not connected to it throuhg the Internet network.

I am in Spain and my NAS is in France, I can’t use Plex in this way right?

Ok.

Thanks for your honnesty.

So I can’t use Plex because my NAS is too old. Do you now an alternative to view videos (MP4, MKV, AVI) from the NAS on my labtop?

Kind regards,

Hi there.

Thanks. No, I’m on Ubuntu 18.04.1 but each time I try to read my videos through the package Video station but I always have an error on my browser (FF Quantum latest version): “The video format is not supported by My Computer”…

It seems that it’s a common issue with a lot of users. I read that it’s due to the browsers that does not supported codecs for movies.
