Plex won't install on synology

I trying to install Plex on my Synology NAS. DSM Version: DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 5 Model DS223

In package center I can’t find Plex there.

I’m trying to download plex from their home site server https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-media-server

I downloaded a file (PlexMediaServer-1.32.0.6950-8521b7d99-armv7neon_DSM7.spk)

In package center right side (manual install) choose file I downloaded and it says (this package is not supported on the platform of synology NAS or is incomatible with the current DSM version)

I have tried download all files and try them 1 by 1, still same messages.

Can someone tell me why it does not work?

  1. If the server can’t see Plex in Package Center then you have the network configured. (It must have your modem/router’s IP address as your Default Gateway)

  2. Package Center will populate with everything it sees. (this is my DS418j which is very limited)

The DS223 is an ARMv8 CPU (aarch64) 64 bit ARM.

Hello

i can see any other package
So my network works or?

No plex in search

Hello,

i upgrade my NAS from DS216se → DS223

maybe reset all settings?

will this work maybe?

i have rest my device still no plex

i found this here cpu not supported yet,

I am the maintainer of the NAS Compatibility Guide.
I am the engineer who added the DS223 based on this information:

RTD1296 vs RTD1619B

Clock speed: The RTD1619B has a higher clock speed of 1.7 GHz compared to the RTD1296’s 1.4 GHz. This means that the RTD1619B will generally perform faster than the RTD1296 for tasks that rely heavily on the CPU’s processing power.Jan 13, 2023

This is a Synology problem for not including it in package center.
We have no control over what they publish.

If you manually install the ARMv8 (which is AARCH64) 64 bit Synology package, it better install.

If not, I will give you instructions to run in Task Scheduler and we can find out what has changed between product announcement and what you have now.

Hello,

I try to install manual (PlexMediaServer-1.32.1.6954-56a60573f-aarczh64_DSM7.spk)
but i got this error here.

Can you help me out, or have i wait until some fix bugs?

There can i download the file to install in on my NAS? (spk)

@007fred50

I just got off the phone with Synology.

They couldn’t confirm if the DS223 is hardware compatible with the other ARMv8 machines. (which it should be).

I don’t have a DS223 development system to look at and find out what’s happening.

At this point, the best we can do is

  1. Try a different (older) Plex version in case there’s a package difference (which I seriously doubt)

  2. Gather the internal DSM logs from it trying to install. (This might be a Synology bug too)

Please give me a few minutes to write this up and post the instructions.

@007fred50

This is a prototype / test package.

I’ve edited the the list of allowed hosts based on Synology practices.

To install this “Manual Install”,

  1. Manual install it.
  2. It will complain the package is unsigned. Allow it
  3. If successful, you will have PMS 1.29.2.6364 installed.

Hello,

i try to find logs on my NAS but can only find this here:

Im doing right?

You’re doing right.

I’ve found what the problem is.

The DS223 has a new product designation inside the SPK file.

I’m now “guessing” what that new designation is :see_no_evil:

Hello,

it works now.

Thanks for that

When all else fails …

:hammer:

For anyone else with this problem, Please share this custom SPK file until I work through all the details with Synology and make it official release in Plex.

want me to share it on internet too or?

You can share this thread where I’ve made it more official
