Impossible to sign in on Rasplex, Time is not good.

Hi,
I have a little but big problem with my Rpi2 running rasplex…
All my config used to work really well, and now I can’t sign in with the rasplex. Don’t knwo why… nothing changed…

Issue:

  • Can’t sign in (via both set up with the gui) the circle just roll and roll and roll
  • The time marked is not the good one…
  • Via SSH the “date” is not the good one (but a different one ahah)
  • With the GUI, I am well marked on “Europe/Paris” on timezone.
  • I tried to force the localtime with Europe/Paris but you can’t change system files, or remove them so the various TUTO I found on the web just can’t work.
  • I can use the Iphone apps in order to control the rasplex and to push a movie by it but the result is just saying that the rasplex can’t add the movie to the queue.
  • I already tried to add “0.fr.pool.ntp.org” “1.fr.pool.ntp.org” “2.fr.pool.ntp.org” with the gui nothing changed.

I tried a lot of tuto… even tried to format the SD card and to create it again… nothing work.

note: the server is running on a synology, but it works well since I can do everything right on both computer and phone.
If you have some idea ?

Sounds like an issue with network/internet connectivity on the client. Are you using WiFi or a ethernet cable?

Server shouldn’t matter as the authentication takes place on plex corporate servers plex.tv. But because you can’t reach a ntp time server, it’s a problem with the clients network connectivity.

Hi,
I am using Ethernet cable and the connection is OK since I can reach it with the apps plex on my phone.
The Ethernet cable is on the box, next to the server.
A switch is added on the box to connect other stuff.

Even if that should not be a problem I tried to reboot all my stuff without the switch level (only box + synology + rasplex) but no change…

Do I have to open a port to the router ? :confused: (for the rasplex I mean… the one for the server are already OK since It’s working fine with my computer and phone)… I do not think so but well… I already tried every piece of hint I could find on the web.

You shouldn’t have to open any ports. Are you using the latest Rasplex/OpenPHT version?

Sounds like either network is preventing the NTP sync or your SD card maybe damaged and is corrupting the image while in use.

Humm…

Read the internet… done some test… define an NTP local server with the synology, linked it with the rasplex via the GUI.

  • The Time is OK !
  • The internet is still ok on the rasplex
  • The plex still do not want to log in… ? Is there any war to know how to solve the problem ? via cmd linux or other stuff ?

Seems to me that it’s a network issue… but well, how to solve it ?

I am kind of lost … (Just tried with another SD card … with the NTP local server the time is OK, but not the log in.)

Still on the search ! I guess I cannot be the only one on the internet with the matters :stuck_out_tongue:

Tried to set an IP fixe, manually put the same DNS as the server, and the same DNS as the box.
IP work great naturally… Time still work great with the NTP loval server… Sign in still roll over and over and over.
Even if I try to manually log in, by pushin “sign in” the thing roll and roll and roll… Dunno where is the error message;

Is there a way to diagnostic the problem ? By searching throught SSH or so… ? (To know the error)

SSH into the PI and run the command:

traceroute plex.tv

See how many hops before you reach your destination.
