I need to use subtitles practically with every movie due to my old hearing. When the subtitle is long or complicated, I need to pause the movie.
The problem is that when I operate the pause (I use the space bar), the tool bar slides up and covers the subtitle, and I have to wait for it to come down.
The same happens when I start play again - the toolbar comes up again, completely unnecessarily, covering the subtitle, this time much longer.
The problem could be solved by moving the subtitles slightly higher, making the toolbar more transparent, or not raising the toolbar when the movie is paused by space bar.
The Windows store app is much better in this regard -
Thanks, Otto.
I am using the PMP in true full screen mode. But I am not using the TV mode, because it is no good for desktop PC’s. But the problem is there the same, anyway.
You send me these suggestions once before when I was experimenting with PMP. I then moved onto the Windows Store app which is much better in this regard. That however has other problems, so I am back again using the PMP. None of those tweaks are applicable to my problem.
If you know how to tweak the time period the toolbar is up, that could help. Or how to move subtitles a hundred or so pixels up.
thanks
sorry, what ‘last paragraph’ are you referring to? And why do you think I am not using the full height of the screen? Of course I am.
BTW, just reading other posts, I must agree with them that moving subtitles up and down a bit from the keyboard, like in the VLC player, should really be a basic function.
And since the PMP is supposed to be the flagship of Plex, maybe you can do a bit of pushing there in the development department ??
Move subtitles from the black borders over the picture
This may matter to people who use a video projector and screen masking, so the subtitles don’t appear in the masked area below the picture:
add the line --sub-use-margins=no
This setting has only an effect, if the video is stored without black margins (not ‘letterboxed’)
so far so good.
I chose this option based on the writeup in the mpv documentation, but there are other options for subtitle position if this one caused problems (as you would know).
I did not like the idea of forcing them out of the margin unnecessariy.
