Hello good morning, I’m using a very powerful vpn server but I can’t watch any movies, it crashes a lot, even 480p compatible videos crash. Sometimes plex says that I don’t have a powerful enough server but analyzing the server it is not using resources. How could I configure it to run smoothly and use server resources well?
We need some further details, e.g. whether you are trying to transcode 4k content, or what setup do you have, … more importantly, you are talking about a vpn server: depending on the location it can slow down your connectivity significantly. Also e.g. OpenVPN costs a lot of CPU resources even if you have a powerful server (OpenVPN is single-thread based, so a multi-thread CPU may provide no improvement).
Hello. I expressed it wrong. I meant VPS server and not vpn. I have 1080p movies at most. But as I said, even 480p videos crash a lot. So, I was wondering how to configure my plex for the VPS server to use all its power.
In case of a VPS how does your PMS access the content? Local or mounted drive for example? In case of mounted drive: how is it mounted (rclone?)?
Is your vps located near to you?
What do you use as client? Did you try different devices?
