Normally in Plexamp I’m searching for an artist/album, but today I searched for a song based on partial title that I couldn’t fully remember and I realized I’m only getting a very small subset of search results under the search view.
Yes, I can use the filter under Library view as described here but creating a filter this way is more cumbersome. I would expect to get similar results in a Library view filter as I would in search. I get that is for performance reasons, it would be nice to have search results paginated, having a configurable option for search result limit, or even just a warning like “search result limit reached, please use the Library filter instead”. Things like this would be good to have in the web console as well, since that appears to be limited in the same way.
There isn’t a limit on search results, but to keep the first page clean and accessible, only the first 3 results of each type (artist, album, track etc) are shown. Click through to the full results with the arrow at the top of each Hub:
Thanks, I was already looking at the Tracks results page by clicking the arrow you’re talking about, and that’s where I noticed I was missing results. In my example that I was originally searching for, I was searching for a song that I knew had the word “Sea” in the title, and I got about 50-60 results (in Plexamp and Plex web). The track I was looking for ended up being “Sea within a Sea”, but this didn’t appear in the search results.
When I do the Library filtering for Track Name contains “Sea”, then I see hundreds of results like I expect, including the song I was looking for. So what I’m talking about is that I see far fewer results under search (both in Plexamp search and searching in Plex web) than I do under Plexamp Library filter, which returns what I expect. Unless there’s something else I’m missing, when looking under Tracks I didn’t see anywhere to see additional results beyond the first 50-60 hits, that the Library filter shows isn’t the full set.
