In Plex Web, if I navigate to a title and view the cast, it shows what role each actor played in that title. If I click a specific actor, it will show me all the titles in my Plex library where that actor is billed in the credits, along with what role they play in each of those titles.

In Plex on my nVidia Shield, the latter does not happen. It will show all the titles which have that actor, but does not show what role in that title the actor plays.

Would it be possible to get that added as a feature for this streaming device? Often times we’ll see a title an actor was in, have to click on it to bring up the title, then search through the cast to find the actor again and discover what role it was.

From what I can see, this is included in the “new experience apps” (e.g. the current mobile apps). Therefore this will probably also rolled out to Android TV when that app is updated to the new experience.

On Roku New Experience, if the content is in your Library it’ll have the role listed for the titles. If the content is from Discovery in the “Known For” row, that role information has been removed from that row. That change was something I noticed when Roku updated to New Experience. It’s there on Plex Web (and was there in the previous Roku UI) so it’s definitely possible from a service standpoint but maybe design\click-through considerations pulled it away or another “we’ll fix it later” thing (have been a bunch of those on Roku New Experience).

Yeah, this is only for items in my library. On the Shield it’ll list the roles for the cast of the current title. Clicking on an actor from the list will bring up other titles in my library that actor is in, however it does not list the role that actor plays in each of the other titles (which it does in the web player)
