I set up plex on a windows PC to stream to an nVidia shield TV. If I go to movie details it shows me the cast. In I think is the default view because I don’t remember changing any settings, it just shows me there names. Is there a way to show more details on that cast member? I’d also love for it to scan my movie collection and show what other movies I have with that particular actor or actress.
On Android currently no. On pretty much every other client it will display other movies they have appeared in.

You cannot select the actor’s profile in any android player, but you can do a search for the actor name in the search bar. It can take you to a section where it lists the movies/shows in your library that they also are in.
By any chance is there a discussion on this feature coming to android?
There is a feature request for it I believe.
I just tested it on on my windows server - it is great! I hope they are still working on the Android release. I could easily see myself watching a movie and saying - what other movies do I have with Dwayne the Rock or Gal Gadot or Salma Hayek and picking my next movie that way. Or watching a movie and saying - I could swear I’ve seen that guy or girl some place before.
It might even be nice if they could like it to their IMDB or comparable page so I can find movies I don’t have yet.

I have no idea why this feature is absent in Android. It’s been on other clients for years.
Then again even on the devices that do have the feature Plex severely lag behind all its competitors.
Emby, Jellyfin and Infuse all shows everything in your collection an actor has appeared in.
Regardless of it being a Show or a Movie.
It’s now getting close to 5yrs since search scope cross libraries was asked for 
via Show results from all available libraries under Actor view, not just the current library
Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but I can’t locate information on why my Plex server shows cast for only some movies but not others. No rhyme or reason as far as I can tell. For example, it shows case for many MCU (I have them all), but not for some, even if more recent (shows for some Avengers but not others, not for either Guardians, Thor, Iron Man, Dr. Strange). Does not show for 3 Days to Kill or 3:10 to Yuma or 12 Monkeys, but does for older 12 Angry Men. Yes for 12 Strong, no for 12 Years a Slave. You get my examples.
I have tried refreshing individual movie metadata. I just tried refreshing all metadata. Under Settings/Agents and Movies I have it set for Plex Movie (Legaqcy) and selected IMDB for Cast Source (tried also the other option The Movie Database).
I would be nice to have all cast data for all movies. Ideas? Thanks.
It’s most likely this Plex is creating new/duplicate Tags for Directors and Actors that are already in my server - #6 by drzoidberg33 if your using the new modern plex scanner and agent.
If after you do a full metadata refresh make sure to optimise your DB as I believe that’s the final step needed for the search to then fully function.
