For classic titles like Merry Melodies/Looney Tunes and the shorts before Pixar films, can we please get a media type of “Short Film” to include these, so they do not fill up the Movies type on our Plex Servers?
Also, there is currently no way to include anime OAVs as their own series, similar to TV shows, as they’re not considered TV shows on sites like TheTVDB. They list them similar to a Season 0 of a related TV show, if there is one. Another term for this type of series could be “Direct to Video Series.”
You can create a second movie-type library and designated for shorts. Most shorts are listed on TMDb and can be matched just fine…
As for OVAs — why do you want to organize those separately from the show to which they belong?
Yes, they’re mostly organized as specials of a show. Some also have a separate movie entry (but that’s depending on the policies of the respective repository and when reported, they might delete those as duplicates).
I did create a movie type from “Other Videos” for Short Films. Plex does not recognize the format of the folders that have the IMDb video details, aka Name of Movie (Year) {imdb-tt01234567}. Instead, every video is the filename, 2024, and just has a screenshot from the video.
How do I make Plex use IMDb to fill in the details for the Other Videos? If not, can we please have a Short Films category alongside the other media that works like Movies and TV Series?
