Incomplete Program Guide Data – To be announced

The built-in program guide in PLEX never seems to have complete information. Many shows are just “to be announced”, or missing completely.

I first noticed this during the NCAA tournament. I wanted to record some games, but every instance just said “NCAA Basketball Teams TBD”. There was no way to record a specific team other than to look elsewhere on the Internet to figure out what time and channel they’re playing on, and then back into PLEX to scan each instance of the program and hope to find the right one (since multiple games were going on at the same time on different channels—but they were all listed as a generic NCAA Basketball show title).

There are several shows on the Big Ten Network that don’t even have the show title. It just lists “Big Ten Programming” as the show name with “Big Ten Programming to be announced.” as the description. I’m specifically looking for a show titled “The Journey: Big Ten Basketball”

My old DVR solution used data from schedulesdirect.org. Where does PLEX get its guide data from? It seems incomplete.

Right on Jeff. I have the same issue. Wait until one of the channels sends guide data that their Web APP can’t deal with. It will just say “Loading…” and stop for that channel. Then…no matter what’s on that channel, you won’t be able to real time record it or watch it on Live TV. When I first signed up with Plex Pass, it showed all of my regional channels in the Web APP…now, I never get a complete guide. I have even created two different servers. One of Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04.4. Both do it. Wherever they are getting the channel programming it’s no accurate and it’s not always sending back to them the expected results for every channel. I’ve been frustrated about this very issue and no Plex developer will talk to me about it. Crazy part is that the Amazon Fire TV app does show all of the channels, just not THEIR web app.
