My system intermittently records partial shows ranging from a few seconds of recording to almost the whole show, then stops. This occurs whether a single show is recording or three shows are recording. It occurs on different channels at different times; one night Jimmy Kimmel records completely, other nights only 21 seconds. The tuners show full strength on all tuners.
This evening a single show was recording, 03/15/21 19:00 âThe Blacklistâ recorded for 19 minutes, then stopped. On 03/03/21 22:35 all three late night shows recorded simultaneously and completely.
I recently rebuilt my Plex server computer Win10 to be totally clean with only the Plex program installed and running. No other software. I have four hard drives with one, a 6TB drive, dedicated for Plex Live TV DVR.
Iâve attached a debug log from this evening. When Plex records a show completely, it works well, detecting ads perfectly. I have not been able to depend on Plex recordings to be complete.

Looking at the âPlex Media Server.logâ attached to my initial post; the following is an excerpt at the moment the recording stopped early for âThe Blacklistâ on 03/05/2021 at 19:19:09. Prior to that, the recording appeared to be working well. At 19:19:10.705 the job was killed. Does any of this explain the reason for the early stop? Is it in a Transcoder setting, or possibly a tuner problem?:

I am continuing to have very inconsistent results recording Live TV shows. This evening March 12, 2021, I had three shows set to record and each failed: at 19:00 The Blacklist on WMAQ (didnât record at all), Oprah with Megan and Harry on CBS (recorded for 3 minutes), then 21:00 Clarice on CBS (recorded 1 second).
On the other hand, last night March 11, 2021 22:30 I was able to simultaneously record Kimmel (ABC), Colbert (CBS), and Fallon (WMAQ) completely.
Open to suggestions. Iâve been trying to get the Plex system to work since January 4, 2021 and have been missing recordings almost every day at different times and different conditions.
Iâve uploaded the last few days of my Plex recordings showing that 9 out of 14 shows Failed to record completely. Iâve uploaded a current log that should contain these activities.
This has been ongoing since I started with Plex at the beginning of January 2021. Hoping that someone might have some suggestions as to what may be the problem. Plex Server is the only program running on this âcleanâ computer.
Might it be my tuner? My computer? Something in setup?
I donât see that you have received any replies addressing your problem. Have you learned anything elsewhere?
I have a similar issue with the DVR. I have set all my DVR settings to record for 5 minutes before and 10 minutes after the show scheduled. Plex consistently cuts off the ends of my recorded shows. In the case of one show, American Idol, which shows for 2 hours, 2 nights per week, I typically get 53-55 minutes recorded. This is incredibly frustrating and I canât find any information that even suggests a solution. One user responded that this is typical for Plex. Really? Why would this be accepted as typical? Now Iâm guessing that Plex is coded properly so that most people donât have this issue. There is likely a setting or setup that I donât have correct. I love everything else about Plex (except slow response in the app on Roku), but I may have to cancel the Plex Pass and purchase a hardware based DVR for OTA shows. I echo your request - any advice would be greatly appreciated!
