Plex Media Server Logs_2020-02-22_20-44-33.zip (3.9 MB)
Certain longer shows consistently stop recording early. For example, my wife tries to record the 2 hours of Dateline on Friday night. Instead, week after week, the recording stops at 1 hour 33 minutes. She tries to record a one hour show, she gets 33 minutes. We have had similar problems for a long time now. Wiping the scheduled recordings and starting from scratch seemed to help some. I thought the issue, based on logs, was running out of room in the transcode temp path, so I updated it to something with more space.
The server is virtualized under Proxmox, but it should have sufficient cores and memory to handle the load.
Last night my wife tried to outsmart the Plex DVR by watching the content live, but she says at just about that 1:33 mark the live TV playback crashed with “mutliple playback errors.” It isn’t clear if there for sure is a connection, but it sure seems suspicious.
Since cleaning up the transcode temp path issue, I haven’t seen anything obvious in the logs, but I’m attaching them here in case someone can make heads or tails of them.
We switched to this from Windows Media Center a couple years back, and I’m sorry to say that it has been OK sometimes, but in general it has not been as reliable. But the server SW is open source, so maybe I’ll dig into it myself. If anyone has a pointer on where to start, I’d be glad to try and solve my own issue. Any offered support is appreciated.
Playback is almost always on Roku frontend devices, but that should not be relevant since this seems to purely be a server issue.
Regards,
Daniel
