Maybe I am unaware of a setting I could use to fix this problem but I think this would be better defined as a bug. First I am using PMS on Windows 10(Version 1.18.1.1973). If I limit the remote stream bitrate in PMS below original and then attempt to stream remotely on the Android app or Nvidia Shield with quality set to maximum it the user will see the screen go black for about 5 seconds and then it just jumps back to the menu without any information provided as to what happened. If I watch the console I see the following error “Denying access due to session lacking permission to direct play part…”. This happens for home users and shared users. What I don’t understand is why doesn’t the system just transcode the video down to the maximum bitrate I set on the server? Plex web and Roku do just that, they stream at my maximum setting. Is this a bug? Seems the server maximum rate settings should just override the client settings and move on.
