I just rebuilt my server and installed a fresh copy of Plex v1.7.5.4035.
Having an issue with remote playback. I was sure that in the past, I had setup remote playback had a maximum bandwidth and it would transcode accordingly and automatically.
now when you try to watch something from a browser remotely, it gives me an error that there is not enough bandwidth. 2144kbps needed and 1500 allowed maximum.
you can change the setting on the video or the remote player. Is there no way to set it on the server side?
When I set the “Limit remote stream bitrate” to 1.5 Mbps. it is not automatically transcoding. It just gives them an error stating the bit rate is 2144Kbps and there is a maximum of 1,500Kbps
I had to up the remote stream rate to 3Mbps for it to work.
Direct Playing due to no transcode profile
no direct play video profile exists for http/avi/mpeg4
no direct play video profile exists for http/avi/mpeg4/mp3
I might be missing some codec stuff on the server (CentOS 7)
Codecs are dynamically downloaded the first time they are actually needed.
Does your server have a working internet connection that is not too heavily firewalled?
Did you mount the Plex data folder or the ‘transcoder temporary folder’ with the ‘execution’ bit active?
That is as much as I know about the Linux environment.
For a better diagnosis, we’d need at least server log files [only ‘debug’ active, please not ‘verbose’]
