Inconsistent Remote Access Connection

Yes, tried that but still no access. It looks like they’ve got the Router locked down.
Have sent them a request for info about getting a static WAN IP, I won’t hold my breath fo r this, but if you don’t ask you don’t get

That wont solve immediate issue though, because static IP will just make sure your IP doesnt change. But it will still be the same IP as now, and if now isnt working it wont work when its static.

If you hook up PLEX directly to the Modem, no routers in between, does remote access work? Can try remote access from your phone (turn off Wifi). If so, then if I were you I would invest into non ISP router, preferably something that can run ddwrt or Freshtomato.

Do not leave it connected to WAN like that for longer than needed to test since its not good for security.

if it still doesnt work, then problem is further upstream, either modem or ISP.

Good point! But, given that the PortChecker test against all common ports also failed, I strongly suspect that the ISP has locked things down.
Among those common ports are some popular gaming apps and gaming is huge here but almost exclusively via GSM mobile. Most of the people who do gaming would not have a home internet service and it’s logical that the ISP would block this facility to force additional revenue for static IP. They would use the port blocker as their weapon.
When I connected the server direct to the router everything went haywire (I’m suspecting ZoneAlarm) but haven’t had the time to dig deeper on that. In any case, given that I can’t open ports it suggests my problem is in the WAN, not the LAN.
I hope to get a prompt response from the ISP but, given the weekend has arrived, probably not until Monday or Tuesday.
Why are things so complicated? Oh, for a simple life!

Like I said before, unless you have something hosting on those ports (like a web server or a gaming server), they will appear to be closed because there wont be anything on those ports to respond to port checker. So Im not convinced they are locked down. Something like port 80 is required for you to get to the internet, and port checker will show it as closed because you dont have a server on that port.

ZoneAlarm on what? Windows? Turn all firewalls off on there for a few minutes just to test things. If I were you Id grab a raspberry pi (or similar) install a Plex image on that and test with that, since it would be pre-configured and wouldnt have any Windows Quirks. Once that is working, and I have confidence in ISP/network, then go back to Windows and figure out if there are any problems in Windows.

Apologies for extended silence since last communication, I’ve been in sick bay and just now coming up for air.
As anticipated, my request for supporting information from my ISP has resulted in complete silence, but I’ll keep trying to get to someone there who may be able to shed light on this puzzle.
As things stand right now, unless this next attempt, hopefully with some insights from the ISP to get Plex access from outside is successful, for the sake of sanity and productive use of time and resources I think I’ll put this in the too hard basket.
Final attempt to resolve ISP status will commence ASAP.
Thanks again for your patience and guidance.
