Inconsistent streaming between devices

Hi everyone!
I am running Plex on an Asustor AS3104T. When I play videos on my laptop via my wi-fi network, everything runs smoothly. However, when I try to play some videos on my TV which is connected to the NAS via HDMI cable, they frequently buffer and occasionally freeze.
I have tried adjusting my transcoding speeds and/or video quality, but this usually leads to poor quality video and many times does not even fix the buffering/halting issue anyway. I have also attempted optimizing the offending files for television, but to no avail.
There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to which files work on the TV and which don’t. I have had the problem with both HD and SD videos.
My internet speeds test high - but, should that matter when I’m connected by a cable?
I don’t think it’s a space issue since I am using less than half of the 8TB drive I currently have installed.

You’re using Plexweb - NOT Plex Media Player.

Plex Media Player is one of the powerful stand alone Plex Player apps located at the Devices/Apps link at page bottom. The other one is Plex for ‘Whatever’ (Windows/Mac) and either will Direct Play most anything you throw at 'em.

Plexweb will Direct Play NOTHING 'cause it works in a crappy browser - not designed to do much of anything except test Plex’s Transcoder.
