Incorrect libary matching

Server Version#: Version 4.54.5
Player Version#: Various

I am aware thar DVD’s can differ from the databases avalible on line and with some shows the will roll a two part show in to one episode, Normaly I would deal with this by just using a short 5s place holder video, however no matter what I try II cannot get the server to use the aboloute numbering (How the episodes are named on disk.). Is this a bug am I missing this, starting to get a bit frustrated as this knocks of the play lists ie wrong episodes tagged

Go to the series and go to the edit menu>>advanced and select sort order you desire

This cannot be done at the TV Library level that I can see

Correct… that’s a per-show configuration/choice.
Your screenshot is showing the new/beta tv-show agent where you have more orders available. However the basic configuration option is also available in the advanced tab of a show matched w/ TheTVDb agent (not sure it’s working with the old The Movie Database tv-show agent).
After changing the ordering you might need to refresh the show’s metadata for Plex to pick up the correct information for each episode (looks like the new agent will trigger this automatically when changing the order).

Thanks gentlemen but I dont have some of the options (see below) I have tried the various option and tried aboloute and refreshed meta data. the only way it works is i need to change files to match the database. I do not see any difernaces in the options (this is a big issue in frarscape)

You might want to check out the actual organization.
Your current organization does not seem to match the DVD order of TheTVDb.com. However the only difference I can see are episodes 19+20 which seem to be switched compared to your own file listing. Episodes of season 1 seem to be the same order for DVD and airing order w/ the exception of “Encounter at Farpoint” being split in 2 episodes in the airing order.

TNG does not have an absolute order on TheTVDB.com (182 unassigned episodes) – that might explain why you’re not getting any updates from that.

The (regular) order on The Movie Database matches that of the DVD order from TheTVDb.com (combined “Encounter at Farpoint”, episodes 19+20 reversed compared to your file names).
Even wikipedia (which can be super far off occasionally) has episodes 19+20 sorted as the other references.
