Indexing TV files

Server Version#:1.15.4.995
Player Version#:N/A

A familiar problem but also different. I recently ripped a TV series from a 4 disk DVD set (Best of Bonanza). All files are .mp4 There are 31 episodes and although I have the title of each, I do not have any idea of the season or episode number. PLEX is not indexing any of them so they don’t show up in any player. Going to TV-series folder view will show the folder, but then I try to click on it PLEX indicates that the folder is empty (it’s not).
Any idea how to work around? I don’t necessarily need the metadata, though that would be nice. I do want to watch episodes from time to time, that’s why I bought the set!

You could simply look up the season and episode numbers here: https://www.thetvdb.com/series/bonanza/seasons/all

Thanks, I’ll give it a try It’s a bit “brute-force” but seems like it should work.

The thing is that the metadata sources don’t have “Best-Of Pack xxx”-type metadata. They are only listing the episodes as they were originally aired.

Plus there can be several different of these “Box” releases.
Listing them all is not going to happen, I surmise.

You might try using FileBot on those files. FileBot often can find the correct season and episode number and then format the filename for Plex if you use the correct format string.
