so i upgraded my media server that i have plex hosted on and noticed that while i am at work i have a indirect connection while using any web browser, google chrome, fire fox and edge to be exact… if i use my app on my phone and or use firefox mobile it is a direct connection… is there a way to fix so i have a direct connection while using chrome etc while i am at work?
note: my old server i had i never had this issue, i submitted a ticket with the server companies help desk and all i got was it is best to use the apps and not use the web browser…. and kept giving me the run around ugh
was not sure if it is my place of work blocking a port or if it is on my server’s side where i need them to look into something?
Point a browser at the public IP address & port of the Plex server. If you do not receive the Plex login page, then the port is most likely blocked.
Try changing the Plex server’s public remote access port to a well known port such as 443 (https), 80, 8080, etc. Companies rarely block such ports for outbound traffic.
so i put http:plex public address:port* into my browser and it did not connect to anything, @FordGuy61 when i go to settings > server > remote access and put in a port like you sugessted like 443 it crashes and says can not connect to server, not sure if i borked it till i reclaimed it … for example i put port 80 in it from port 13575
