Indirect Play on my Fire TV

Server Version#: 1.30.2.6563-3d4dc0cce
Player Version#: 9.15.0.38159

My Fire TV will not make a direct connection. It’s a Toshiba Fire Tv, Fire OS: 7.6.1.4.

I’m not in a double NAT, I have no VPN turned on. My ISP is Spectrum and I am using their provided router. I’ve gone in and changed the DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

This issue is fairly recent and after some digging, I figured out that turning off the UPnP on the router and then turning it back on was fixed it. I can make a direct connection on my laptop and that runs fine. All the people I’ve given access to have no problems with making connections. This is only happening on my home network. Both the computer running the server and the Fire TV are on the same wifi network. The network is set to private on the computer.

I don’t know how to read the logs or what to look for to find out what is wrong.
Logs:
Plex Media Server Logs_2023-02-10_16-41-15.zip (2.4 MB)

I’m tempted to reset the router back to factory settings and see if that does anything.

I’ve attached the most recent logs and some screenshots. The screenshots are taken from my computer, not the computer running the server. The computer is a Beelink Mini PC. The router is model is an SAX1V1S.

What is the local IP the TV set has?
Also, have you checked that client isolation mode is not active on your wireless router?

Edit: nevermind on second question, since you said the laptop is working fine. Wouldn’t hurt to double check that anyway.

You may be running into DNS rebinding protection.

See the DNSMASQ section in How to Use Secure Server Connections.

Does Spectrum have any built-in security protections, such as blocking harmful websites?

If so, see if you can disable it or add plex.direct to the allowed list.

The IP on the TV is 192.168.1.123

I don’t think I have access to get into that part of the router. Nothing like that is showing up under any of the settings.

It looks like they intend you to only access it with a smartphone app. You might find a login page for a real web interface at http://192.168.1.1/warehouse , but I don’t know the credentials for it.

@FordGuy61 can you offer a way to test for DNS rebinding issues, so he can see if that is the problem? That really doesn’t make any sense when it is only impacting one device.
