Individual photo files appearing multiple times in Timeline view

Server Version#: 1.15.5.994
Player Version#: 3.99.2

As you can see from the attached file, Plex has begun displaying multiple versions of the same file on the Photo Timeline. Checking in “Get Info” confirms that the filename is the same, and deleting the file – either through Plex or on the fileshare – removes all instances. Interestingly, it does not consistently display the same number of multiples – we can have one, two, three, or even four “copies” of a given picture displayed – but it WILL reliably always display the same number for a specific file. If I delete and then resubmit a file that’s displaying multiple times in Timeline, the new instance will appear the same number of times as the previous instance did.

One possible explaination:
I was able to recreate this by nesting of folders on my HDD. For example: I have M:\My Pictures and M:Pictures. There is a link to Pictures in My Pictures. Both these paths are listed on my library’s path tab. The photo “MyPicture” is in M:\Pictures but it is picked up in both paths (due to the link), displayed twice in PLEX, and and the properties report the same info and path.

Hm. I don’t have any manually-created symlinks or recursive shortcuts in my photos directory, but the Pictures directory that contains it is ALSO defined as the “My Pictures” root for my user account. I wonder if that’s enough to cause the same issue.
