Also having same issue with 32 inch insignia fire TV. Same player version as well. Going to attempt a downgrade on the app tomorrow and see if that fixes the issue.
Let me know how it goes. What version are you downgrading to?
I went to Plex 7.11.3.9220 and it seems to be working fine. Make sure to turn off auto updates in the application settings!
Let me know if it works for you!
I have the same issue, I literally cannot play anything. Some things I am able to play without subtitles. Was working perfectly fine now it just refuses to play anything. I can play anything off of my computer and my phone just not my T.V. anymore.
same here, same issue, cannot play anything on Plex right now on 32" Insignia Fire TV. Tried changing settings on TV and nothing works…help
I updated to this same plex version and it worked for me as well.

I used the same APK provided here by soggy. The armeabi-v7a Arch. Downloaded it on my phone and used the Easy Fire Tools app to push/install the apk on the TV.
There are many ways to install the apk on the TV but this was most convenient for me. Hopefully this helps out some of you!
I had to use apps to fire for it to work for me (Easy tools wasn’t doing anything), but it worked! I sincerely thank you. The only problem that I have now is that Plex doesn’t show as one of MY apps. I can search for it, it pulls up, and works flawlessly. Other than that, it’s not in my recent apps, or even on my app page. When I go to the app and click the hamburger button, it gives the option of “more info”. Clicking that simply starts the app. Is there something I’ve done wrong, or do I have to search for it every time I want to use it?
Just commenting that this also solved the exact same issue for me. I believe it had to do with files having AC3 audio because some files were able to play but others wouldn’t. Rolled back to the version soggy listed and it worked for me.
How do you downgrade the Insignia television? I have the same thing and that same problem. How do you downgrade after getting the file?
We shouldn’t have to downgrade/rollback anything. The Plex devs should have fixed this by now.
I agree 100% with you, but I want it working so I’m willing to downgrade if someone can point me to how to do it. Anyone? Assume I’m a novice and try to guide me please!
I have a QNAP NAS which is helpful since I can also run Plex directly from the NAS (I have to switch HDMI ports and use the QNAP remote on my phone) and I also have installed the Qmedia app so I can watch videos from the Fire TV directly. Installed VLC too so I can point Qmedia to play through VLC. Not as nice, but works in a pinch.
BUT I WANT PLEX AND AMAZON TO FIX THE DAMN APP!!! (yes, I’m angry, I bought the TV with this purpose in mind).
Figured it out through the various links. I downgraded Plex to the 7.11.3.9220 (arm-v7a) version and it works.
Used the easy method outlined here and here. Hardest part was typing out the URL for the download, for which I have a keyboard connected to the TV for purposes like this (thankfully).
Now if Plex and Amazon would get off their butts and actually fix the app us customers wouldn’t need to do BS like this.
Rolled back today to 7.11.3.9220 as you suggested and working again.
Used Total Commander from the Amazon App store and just side-loaded off a USB, no need to type out a URL
Just an update, still working with the 7.11 version (nice that I don’t have to switch sources in order to use it). Who’s going to be brave enough to update to the latest version and report back to us it’s working? I hate to think my other apps aren’t getting updates because of this Plex app problem.
How do I get the icon to show up with this install (7.11.3)?
I installed it from the APK mirror, which I think is technically the google play store version. I was going to try and install the “amazon” version from the plex pass android announcement forum, but not sure if that is the issue.
I removed the installed version of plex, then removed it from the cloud (all via the tv interface), then installed the apk with total commander via a usb drive.
Alexa will open plex fine (and it all works fine), but I can’t get an icon in my apps/recent/etc at all. I can only find it otherwise via “manage installed apps”.
issue still not fixed. This is sad. Tried latest APK still not working. Lifetime plex pass user not happy.
Same. I’ve been pretty disappointed as a lifetime Plex pass user as of late. So many issues going on unresolved for years at this point. Plex devs please respond.
Would like to see this resolved also
