Plex on FirestickTV issues, Help!

Long time Plex user and I’ve never had any serious issues until yesterday but I cant seem to find if anyone else is having this issue too. A recent update to the firestickTV Plex app has caused it not to work across all my firesticks (4 in total).

Seems the UI has changed but my problem is that when I access the app it just freezes and crashes. I have reset the cache in the app settings and it makes it work for a brief time but reverts back to crashing, same thing when I uninstall and reinstall. Is there a way to use an older version of the firestickTV app or is there a fix for my issue? Let me know if I can answer any questions that will help get me up and working again without having to reinstall the app for every show or movie I want to watch!

We are having the same issue when the update first appeared it just looked like a UI change but now there’s issues with it actually working properly - any advice welcome

I have the same issue, app starts, freezes and then crashes out. Worked perfectly before the update.

Definitely needs to be resolved, can anybody help?

Same issue here. Plex doesn’t load on Fire TV. Whatever you did upgrading the app is not working for the Fire TV Devices. Please fix!

Are these regular fire sticks or the 4k?

Just regular fire stick second revision we have an Apple TV and that’s working fine something up with the Plex app update on fire stick … it will work for a time if you clear the data and relink

having the same problem. plex loads up and 10 seconds later quits and takes me back to the amazon home page 2 gen amazon stick. also not working on the 1st gen stick

I have 5 different sticks doing the same thing, ranging from one of the first gen to the 4k stick I bought on prime day.

When it does load I still get nothing displayed on the home screen, resetting to default doesn’t help either

Hi everybody - The new Plex-App on Amazon’s FireTV stick must have a serious bug! Same problem: After starting the app and waiting for a minute it just crashes and we are sent back to Amazon’s main home screen. PLEX folks: Please solve this issue immediately - as we cannot watch all our movies from 3 QNAP servers any more.

Still no update on this? Clearing the app and relinking works for a short time but there’s a serous bug that needs a fix here

Not just the TV Stick. I have the regular Fire (newest version) and same issue. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing cache etc. It sometimes works. But it’s very slow when it does. Most times, after a selection, it will sit for 30 seconds, then crash, closing the app.

Is there anyone from Plex monitoring these boards?

I replied above. I was going to ask for logs but since it is crashing on start up, you won’t be able to go I to settings to turn on logging.

If I missed that you can get into setting. If you can turn on network logging after turning it on there will be a URL displayed in setting which you can go to on your computer. And copy to a text file. The logs cover a while before it is turned on so hopefully should be able to see what it was doing when it crashed.

This needs a fix, ASAP.

Half the settings / dashboard look is gone.

Now when I launch, I am greeted with Junk news…

And I have to click through four different menus to get to my tvshows/movies, and even then, the dashboard of what was left playing is gone.

PLEASE FIX!

And give me back the option to disable your paid junk like webshows and news.

Just was looking for a solution and found this topic. Same problem here with the fire stick and the new update with its customizable start screen. System is slow, jerky and crashes randomly

After it crashed can you launch the app again turn on network logging then copy logs from displayed URL from your computer

That option has been there for a long time.

Same problem as everybody else. However I do have a log. How do I get it to someone?

Also, how do you turn off automatic updates? My other Firesticks have yet to update.

Same issue here. Fire TV client completely unusable. Please give us a roll-back option until you can institute a testing process.

In turning on logging, I’m assuming you mean in the fire TV app. I’ve turned it on now and will see if I get the URL you mention. Did you want me to share the URL or the content? I would hope as well that you would have one of these devices to test locally. They aren’t expensive, and should be a part of your pre-rollout process. just saying.

Also, can you tell me where to find that URL?
