Installing new update not working, desktop app now opens error 404 page

Don’t know what happened, only noticed issues with the desktop app after trying to install update, now I can no longer add to my library as well and the update doesn’t seem to want to install either. confused as to what I should do, if I delete the plex server app and install the newer version will I lose access to the server I created ?

No. As long as you only delete the app in the Applications folder and replace it. Do not use some uninstaller app that will remove all your server configuration data.

Yeah that link still worked fine, it’s real strange, should I just try delete the app and install the newer version then?

It would not hurt to update the desktop player app. I would not reinstall the server just yet though.

Is it normal for the installation of the server update to take multiple days? Also it doesn’t allow me to delete the plex app from the application folder, it insists that its in use and therefore cannot be deleted

Had to delete the app as it refused to install the update, was a struggle as it kept insisting it was open and therefore unable to be deleted. I had to open activity manager and force close it through there in order to delete app. Installed the new version and everything was fixed. App opens up to my server not a 404 page and I can finally add new files to the sever. Must have been some sort of bug in the older version.

Hope this helps anyone with similar issues.
