It seems crazy to me that Plex has kept the antiquated silos of ‘Photos’ and ‘Videos’ when importing personal or home media. My iPhone allows me to travel and take photos and videos that are all integrated around the trip/experience etc. I don’t have to go to a separate place to view ‘videos’ from the trip and then go to another place to view ‘photos’. They are integrated around the event metadata. Why does Plex not work this way. It totally eliminates one of the main value propositions for using it in our home. You have all the tech to do this. And you are adding features like automatic uploads of mobile photos from the camera roll. But you don’t do this for the videos taken during the exact same event! Crazy.
Our family wants to sit down at our Apple TV w/Plex and browse photos/videos organized together around family events. That fact that we can’t do this is a HUGE limitation of Plex. Any chance this is being worked on and re-thought? Do others see this as a valuable feature? Most other media management tools: Apple Photos, Lightroom, Google, Amazon, etc. all allow for this type of integration.
Appreciate any responses or votes here. Really wanting this to be addressed as it would make PLEX into the one system to rule them all that we want it to be. At least for our family. Thanks.
