Integration with the Windows media key API

Greetings!

I have a very quick (and hopefully easy to understand) feature request for the Windows Plex client, and that is that instead of capturing the media keys so that no other app can use them, I think Plex should integrate it with the Windows API.

So, for an example - with Spotify you can press play and pause and the volume indicator shows up in the corner on Windows, along with the current track/media that is playing on the machine. This also allows you to control media from the lock screen, which is something (as far as I’m aware) you can’t currently do with the Plex app. It also just gives you a nice little indicator of what’s playing when you adjust volume or press play and allows other apps like a web browser to capture the media keys when they need to or if Plex isn’t the one using them.

I have no idea where the API is for this in Windows and would have to do some research, but if there are other apps that can do it then I’d imagine it wouldn’t be too much of an ask for Plex to do it too.

Cheers.

Hey @htbrown39, yep I think this is 100% the right path. I’m not sure what it entails either but will sort it out. Other Windows users are having similar experiences: Disable media keys on Windows

Cheers, really appreciate the response to feedback.
