Intermittent crash while playing video with subtitles

This is by no means a new problem. I’ve been having this issue for months now. A similar problem was posted but no one had replied.

When playing on the plex web app, randomly the content I’m watching will crash. I’ll restart it from the current position a couple of times and it will work for another 10 minutes or even hours. The issue has occurred with many subtitles from various releases.

I’ve just read that this is an issue with the “New Player” and the fix is to disable it, however, I cannot find the option to disable it.
