I’m testing out the “onn.” (that branded period is annoying) model of Android TV 4K. I have it connected to a recent-model Yamaha receiver that is otherwise working fine with other devices. I’ve seen the following problems that seem to be specific to this model:
-
Even though the device is clearly connected, has an IP, and all other apps stream to the internet, Plex thinks it’s offline when opened. It takes a couple retries to get it to work, but even then I can’t switch to other home users because it thinks it’s offline. Another Plex user previously reported this with no reply.

HDMI passthrough is broken. If I enable it, TrueHD transcodes to EAC3, but is silent nonetheless. And playing a DTS-HD file simply provides this error: “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again”. It’s a consistent error.
-
If I disable passthrough, TrueHD still transcodes to EAC3, but seems to play fine as PCM 5.1, I think (I have a 5.1 system so I can’t test 7.1). DTS-HD direct-plays, but seems to send PCM 2.0 to the receiver.

I’ve seen the “next video stretching” issue on H265 files, as previously documented for the Chromecast w/ Google TV. I’m guessing if that issue is resolved, and this model actually gets updates, this will go away.
If a dev is around and would like more info about the device or some logs PM’d, please let me know.
