I am not impressed with the latest Qnap server updates for PMS, my Plex server was hanging for days with every latest TV show added to it detecting Intros, it also showed high CPU and memory usage. I was able to fix it by chmodding the codecs folder to allow execution. This comes after a supposed update to place PlexData on the NAS, which also failed between versions, the version I had was from August I believe but I forgot to note the version number, Plex was fine then.
But again, it took peer user support to find a thread about manually deleting the empty share that the update created, and then recreate empty PlexData and stop/start PMS to populate it correctly after which the codecs folder had the wrong permissions.
I guess this is more of a rant than a support request, but for others facing the same problems, it appears that the latest updates fail to create the data share properly, or chmod the codecs folder correctly, but why are these updates being pushed out if they have been known since June to be problematic?
I don’t update Qnap or PMS often, and really, this is the reason why… if it works leave it alone, otherwise risk issues.
