Intro detection fails for large/long episodes

Plex’s intro detection seems to fail for very long episodes (~2hrs) on my Synology DS1019+. I’ve noticed this for the Beatles - Get Back documentary, and S03E1-4 of Twin Peaks (two double-length episodes). The messages read:

Jobs: ‘/volume1/@appstore/PlexMediaServer/Plex Transcoder’ exit code for process 20767 is 0 (success)
Jobs: ‘/volume1/@appstore/PlexMediaServer/Plex Media Fingerprinter’ exit code for process 24013 is -9 (signal: Killed)

So it seems like the error comes in the Media Fingerprinter. These are the only files it seems to break on (the rest of Twin Peaks S03 works just fine). As far as I can tell a -9 signal is out of memory, which would make sense given this is only affecting the largest files in my library. Maybe the solution here would be to either pull out the first half of the episode for analysis, or the first 30mins (say), whichever is shorter? It’s just frustrating that the scheduled task tries to do this every night, and takes about an hour each time to end up achieving nothing

Digging into this, I pulled the transcoded file out and run Plex Media Fingerprinter on it manually using the same command Plex seems to use. This doesn’t crash for me (runs for a while then prints out a bunch of numbers), so I wonder if this error is it thinking it’s timing out when it’s actually OK? I’ll keep digging

Yep, it seems to be a timeout thing. I got this to work by stripping out the Atmos track so it would instead use the much smaller AC3 track and in that case the Fingerprinter succeeded. It might just be worth pushing up the timeout from 60 seconds before killing the process

OK, here’s a workaround for anyone else who runs into this. The transcode comes from the selected audio track, so swapping to a smaller one (i.e. Stereo FLAC) before the scheduled task runs to generate the intro will solve this. Then just switch back afterwards and everything should be good
