Intro Detection Taking Very Long

Plex has been taking DAYS to detect intros for about the last 4-5 server updates. I’m wondering why this issue has suddenly appeared again (this happened when it was first introduced). I’ve run database optimizations and have them scheduled as well. The dashboard icon is constantly spinning and it seems to be stuck on a single episode for days and eventually changes to the later content I add, but it seems to take nearly a full day just to scan a single episode. I have not changed any settings from when it was working much faster, so I don’t believe anything has changed on my server historically.

Server Version#: Version 1.27.0.5897
Player Version#: Version 4.83.2

I noticed the exact same issue.

IDK why Plex mods don’t address the issue, especially since a lot of people seem to be having it.

Share server logs?

Plex previously had a bug where some tasks would be unexpectedly throttled.

I haven’t experienced it in a while, but it might be related. Try this:

On any piece of media, create an Optimize... job. (Settings don’t matter, you’ll delete it again anyway.)

Then go to ActivityConversions.

Pause the conversion queue. Wait a few seconds. Resume the queue.

Click Optimized Version Settings, and Delete ✖︎ the job.

After doing that, is there any change in Intro Detection performance?

Obviously that shouldn’t help, but it did sometimes help when there was an issue in the past.

This actually solved the problem for me. Interestingly, the conversion started out paused after I initiated it. I resumed, paused, resumed, deleted the job, and then everything started working properly with detecting intros.

Thanks.

Yay!

In SettingsTranscoder, is Maximum simultaneous video transcode set to something other than Unlimited?

I wonder if that could be related.

It’s set to Unlimited, but it wasn’t always.
