The ability of skipping a show’s intro is great. The problem is that many shows change the intro each season or later in the show. So while 1 or multiple seasons of a show allow skipping the intro, once the show changes intros later in the show, the skip option is no longer available.
That’s how intro detection and skip intro are working today (and from day 1).
Analysis is per-season. Like @tom80H said - there’s nothing shared between seasons.
It looks for consistent sections of audio within the first ~20something minutes of each episode.
If a season doesn’t have an intro with consistent audio, or if the intro changes partway through the season, those episodes won’t be matched.
But it’s also possible that Intro Detection is failing for some other reason. I assume you’ve added the later seasons+episodes more recently?
Yes, the episodes were added in cronological order. First 2 seasons, the intro was detected. Then the show changed the opening and intro is not being identified.
From the related support article:
A few things to note:
Short intros of less than 20 seconds are ignored.
Intros ending more than halfway into an episode will not be detected.
If you have multiple copies of the same episode only one will be analyzed to try and detect the intro.
Any chance one of those applies to your 3rd season (and onward)?
If you configured the libraries to only do the intro detection during maintenance (not when the media is added), it might take 1-2 days until that next maintenance window happens.
Selecting Analyze fixed the issue. Not sure how the series wound up the state in the first place, but the issue is resolved.
