Hello-
I just invited my brother to view my Plex server and he is trying to connect using his smart tv using the invite I send. His TV has a Plex app on the main page, which he uses to connect, but each time he does it says that my server is not available.
On my system It shows “fully accessible outside your network”.
Any ideas?
This is usually caused by an outdated Plex app. If the tv is an older model, it might not be compatible with current cryptographic certificates. Important information about Plex for smart TVs after September 30, 2021
As a test, ask him to use a computer and go to https://app.plex.tv
If he can use this successfully, you know at least that the remote access is working.
(It won’t help him though.)
Perhaps he already has an external plug-in device for which a Plex client is available. Or you could gift him one. Category : Player Apps and Platforms | Plex Support
Thanks, I’ll have him try that.
In case it doesn’t work, any idea what logs I should be looking at?
We updated his LG, now when he tries logging in he gets to a screen that says it’s a login screen, but is all grey, with nowhere to do anything?
Ideas?

The answer was to allow insecure connections.
