Involuntary Library Reset

I have a Western Digital MyCloud Home and have been using Plex with it for about 3 months. I have a very large digital music library, and have been working over the past several months to clean up all the metadata, album art, artist art, year of release information, etc. so that my Plex Library will be just the way I want it in Plex. However, yesterday, all of a sudden, my library disappeared and began “rebuilding” itself as if it were building out the first time I started using Plex, with album art and artist art I had added disappearing, years of release reverting back to what they were before I corrected the, etc. I really want to make sure this never happens again. Please let me know if you have any thoughts as to 1) why this happened; and 2) how I can prevent it from ever happening again. Thanks!

If this just happened, there may be info in your logs to tell what happened. There is no known reason why your library should reset itself if you haven’t done anything. Check if you have a database backup from before this change. Restoring your database could out it back to the way it was.

Thanks MovieFan.Plex - can you give me some guidance on where I might find my database backup and how I might restore from that backup?

Look at https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/ for more info on how to find and restore a backup database.

No way to do this on a MyCloud Home Plex setup. . .This is the primary reason I joined was to figure out this issue. No way to get logs, to my knowledge, either.

Oh, sorry. I missed this was n a WD My Cloud Home. You are correct. There is no way to backup or restore your server setup. You should still be able to get logs. Use Plex Web from another computer, access your server then go to, Settings \ Server \ Help \ Download Logs.
