Could we have an update on the incompatibility with ios15 and tvOS15 of the new player? Plex have stated this will be working by the full release of these versions but I have not heard of a functioning beta and we are about a month from release.
I am unable to join the beta programme myself despite being a Plex Pass holder, have applied many times but no reply.
Can someone from Plex guarantee the iOS and tvOS players will be fully functional from release day?
The issue of course is inability to play AC3 audio with the new player. This is still not working in the latest tvOS15 public beta which was released last night.
It seems to be resolved in the latest Plex tvOS & iOS betas.
Have you been following the threads here? There are quite a few positive reports.
Keep trying. People keep posting that they eventually got a beta slot. I’m not sure what you mean “no reply” - TestFlight typically responds immediately.
That’s great news. I have been trying to follow the threads on here but could I point out the one linked to here with the info is located in the Servers section of the forum not the Players area so that’s why I haven’t seen it.
The TestFlight is permanently full but knowing the latest beta fixes the issue is good enough for me and I’ll look forward to the full release.
Many years and they still haven’t got their naming right. They renamed PlexPass to beta because it’s a lot more like beta, but sounds like they haven’t renamed beta to something else - I assume it should be dev? If it was truly a beta, going by their update selection we should be able to get it without TestFlight.
Apple have finally contacted me about an issue I had post Big Sur and they want me to test it. I came here because it seems Plex usually doesn’t work with new Apple Betas and full credit to plex, it’s the one app I have that is absolutely essential on my iOS device! :D. So I’m left with the choice of joining TestFlight version of Plex (if that’s even still possible) or not helping apple (and all of us to be honest) - because that’s why we do beta’s right - to help everyone out!
I see I’ve actually got 7.22 in my iOS device, so perhaps it’s us that hasn’t got our naming right. If this is the actual beta with the fix in it, then thanks very much plex - this is exactly the kind of thing that makes life easier!
