IOS player problems with IOS 15

so - ever since beta 1 of ios 15 I have had problems with the plex player on IOS… it’s very weird - when I start playing a tv show

  • 8 / 10 times it has video but no sound
  • 1 / 10 times it has sound but no video
  • 1 / 10 times it works perfectly

however 10/10 times, if I click the “picture in picture” button - it plays perfectly.
So the net result is that I end up watching lots of things in a tiny window.
This only started happening with ios 15.

Also - it’s not a function of the video - if I really want it to work, and keep swapping between picture in picture and full - I will eventually hit that 1/10 time where it works… but then it stops working when it switches to the next video.

This is the first thing I check when every new beta comes out (just checked with b5) - but so far no dice.

I find the weirdest thing is that it works 100% of the time when in picture in picture - any video any time plays perfectly…

From what I’ve been reading, the iOS / tvOS 15 betas still have some issues. There’s a number of active threads discussing this (incl. feedback from Plex)

I guess im a little worried - since its been happening (and been reported to apple many times) since beta 1, and we are now up to 5 - i think its a pretty safe bet that its not a problem apple sees as something to be fixed on their side, so I’m wondering if anyone on the plex side of the fence is Investigating it?

Did you happen to read the end of the thread Tom linked to?

sorry - yes - I properly read the thread now - and I’m happy… I can use the old player and it works.
hope they fix the bug before IOS 15 comes out!

Thanks!

IOS15 and plex beta 7.24 on AppleTV. Server version latest since this week.
sometimes no sound when video is played, workaround is to go to video setting and re-click on which audio to use.
On music, when I go to artist page, plex closes (crash?)
