I am seeing this on multiple sites, wonder if this applies to atv2/3’s as well. Can anyone confirm they can downgrade from atv2/3 version 6 (ios 7.x.x) to a lower saved .shsh or are they stuck? Once again the best update is no update at least for newer ios devices.

Is there a reason not to upgrade? PlexConnect with HTTPS works great on the latest release, at least for me :)
Just worried they will gain more control of the trailers app and use it against us one day, trailers.pem was a good example of that. Just wanted to be sure I could downgrade if I upgraded to the new atv version, dont really see any definitive answers towards a downgrade, figured this would be a good place to ask since plexconnect is specifically for atv2/3. Since apple is proprietary software and all the locks and anti jb methods they use against us, I dont want to be screwed with no way to downgrade as the above link suggests. I enjoy plexconnect I dont want ios firmware to control what I view just because I accidently updated to get the “new features” then apple just updates the app. You trust apple to not mess with your apps? I dont. I like to be in as much control of my devices I purchased and own as much as possible not the other way around.
As said here many times in other posts, IOS 6 works great with plexconnect-same ssl method. don't even need to to anything new-it was smooth for me:changed the dns back to auto, updated, changed to the mac's ip and it's all still working great!
Just because it works great now doesnt mean its going to work great down the road. That is why I would like a downgrade option, if you trust apple to not break the trailers app then lock you on a certain ios version in the future then best of luck to you. Im not so trusting and I also like an untethered jailbreak for atv flash, no pc needed if tethered if rebooted etc. Just because its a new version doesnt make it better for plexconnect, it makes it better for apple to lock things down. The link above for newer devices being locked to ios 7 is just the beginning, it will get worse. Sure jailbreakers will open things up but apple is learning to lock firmwares better and better. Apple more then likely doesnt want us to have root access or work arounds to view our media its just bad for business in their eyes. I just dont see what is to gain by upgrading now when I can save my .shsh for ios6(7.x.x)+, be patient & make sure I can downgrade in case apple firmware locks us or the trailers app. It became my device when I purchased it and I plan on keeping the firmware usable for plexconnect if possible.

IOS 6.0 works great with plexconnect. if apple will break plexconnect with change like the https (without, software update), they'll break it on IOS 6 either .. and if it'll be in software updates, you won't have to update fro 6.0 .. and If you're speaking about atv3, or even 2, i think that if jailbreak will be released, it'll be on 6. The jailbreakers team doesn't put invest in ATV jailbreak, so if they will decide to try jailbreak atv again, it'll be on 6, of course. By the way, to my opinion, PlexConnect doesn't really uses a security hole, which jailbreak does, It only takes the dns to build a new amazing plex client in the atv instead of trailers, So there is no real security problem here. And to my opinion, apple only made money from PlexConnect. in fact, PlexConnect in the reason that i'll buy my second apple tv next month.
I dont think you get my point here. The more you update the more control you lose. If you want to take that chance go for it. I like control of my device. A lot of people lost ability to downgrade on ios devices as my first post shows, just spreading the news, knowlege is power. Good luck with your updates :) hope you dont update your device to far and lose control one day.

Think of a .shsh as insurance for plexconnect to work. From what I understand apple is making ios firmwares that you cannot downgrade from. So basically your .shsh will be useless, this is bad for everyone if apple controls the trailers app more then they already do in newer releases and you cannot downgrade. In the end its your device, just trying to prevent anyone getting stuck on a version of ios that apple can possibly block plexconnect from working. I know ios6 works with plexconnect, I want to be able to downgrade just in case. The real question is does apple have control of the trailes app now in ios6? Are we stuck on that firmware once we upgrade? I like to leave my options open since I like plexconnect as im sure everyone does, if you look at it in a different view maybe you will appreciate what im possibly trying to save you from. One day plexconnect may be able to implement most native ios video streaming apps granted you have a working ios and trailers app to allow it. This would be the best of both worlds on atv official and unoffical video streaming compatibility.
I can confirm 5.3 (6.1.4)to any lower saved shsh. Can anyone confirm a downgrade from 6.0 (7.0.1)?
Just saved my .shsh for 5.3 and 6.0 using ifaith, tinyumbrella couldnt get it done not sure why.
Here is another reason, mandantory airplay encryption didnt see that on the ios software update feature list:

Here is a unoffical site to get updates on new featues for atv if anyone is interested:

Here is a list of a5 devices which includes both versions of atv 3rd gen. This leads me to believe the atv2 might be safe for downgrades. The 3rd gen on the other hand might but out of luck:

Straight from musclenerds twitter page:
“It goes without saying that if you’re currently jailbroken, avoid 7.x.x. (Same if you’re on iOS5 and use redsn0w’s iOS5 re-restore feature)”
Yet another reason create your own apps:
