The latest iOS app has removed the ability to cast content to another device (HTPC) within the app. Tapping on the cast icon does nothing and shows “No Devices Found”. In the previous version, I used this feature to control the Plex HTPC app running on my laptop and use direct play to playback anything without transcoding on the HTPC app. Now the new version forces me to use the Airplay feature, which is very unreliable. Some content doesn’t play video, i can only hear audio - i’m assuming because the video stream is not Airplay compatible. The user interface forces me to use the phone in landscape mode, which doesn’t make sense when i’m supposedly Airplay the video to another device. The pause and play doesn’t work sometimes, or lags badly. This is a huge downgrade, when it comes to user experience. All i want is reliable way to control another device with my phone.
