iOS App Crashes Server

Whenever I try to open the Live TV and DVR section on the iOS app, the server crashes, and I get a connection error. I have to manually restart the server service in the Synology interface. Other sections on the iOS app works fine. I have an HD HomeRUn tuner. Both iOS and server version are the latest public versions. Server is only about a month old and less than a week since adding the TV tuner. I have deleted the iOS app numerous times.

Also, live tv and channel guide do not appear on mobile safari in iOS and in safari Mac OS. It appears fine in Roku and Mac apps.

Any recommendations?

I experienced a similar issue recently after upgrading the Plex app on my Apple TV 4K. Navigating to the Live TV & DVR section of the app caused PMS to crash on my Mac. To correct this, I deleted and then re-added my DVR. You may want to try the same just in case the underlying cause is the same.

First, please post the:

  1. exact PMS version installed
  2. iDevice model
  3. iOS version installed
  4. exact HDHR model
  5. version of macOS

Next,

  1. One the General page of the Settings/Server, make sure VERBOSE IS OFF, and DEBUG IS ON
  2. Recreate the crash
  3. Restart PMS and wait 6 minutes (without doing anything else)
  4. Download a ZIP file of the logs from the Settings / Server / Troubleshooting page and post the ZIP file here

No issues with either here so the information requested at the top of this post will be helpful, thanks.

Also, a screen shot of the iPad safari that is missing live tv and guide options at the top. Only has the over-the-air show lineup.

Philipsw, If plex can’t help me out, I will try that next. Thanks!

No problem, hopefully it will help.

BTW, to get your tab options back under Live TV & DVR in your browser, navigate to Settings -> (Web Client) General and select “RESET CUSTOMIZATION.” Do this on whichever clients’ browsers experiencing the problem. It should resolve the issue, but note that you’ll need to re-pin your side panel options and add any hubs you may have customized back to your Home screen.

Just gave that a try, and no luck. Still doesn’t show the tabs on the Live TV and DVR page.

That may not have actually been the reset I was looking for. From a mod in another thread discussing this issue:

Or, another less drastic option would be to tell Plex to not remember the last selected tab:
Settings → (Web Client) → General and de-select “Remember selected tab.”

Ooo! The reset to defaults did fix the missing tabs on the iPad safari browser! Thank you!

Any update from the log files fix my server crash issue?

Did you ever try deleting and re-adding your DVR in PMS? It has resolved this issue for several other users.

Also, if you’re experiencing the same issue we did, @ChuckPa has confirmed that it will be corrected in an upcoming server release:

Thanks for the reply. And other info!

I have not tried removing and re-adding DVR yet as I was waiting to hear back. I’ll try that soon and report back.

At this point, the hope is the server side fix will resolve the issue for you. You can either wait for that and test it and post an update or try deleting the DVR and let us know

To add to Darci,

The fix (1.18.3.2129) is available in PlexPass downloads.

Excellent! Thank you for the replies.

DVR is recording right now but will test today and report back.

With the server update the iOS app’s DVR section no longer crashes the server!

Thank you
