I just downloaded the latest Plex version for my iPad, and since then the circle on the live TV tab has been spinning, so far at least the EPG list has come in, although the broadcasts haven’t started. There is no such problem on Apple TV and other devices, smart TVs, only iPads and iPhones, it’s been months since the new look and no one has fixed it. I’m a lifetime member, I would expect it to work on these too if I paid for it.
@Justina_plex Any chance that these kind folks could get some help with DVR issues?
They’ve had to rollback to ver. 1.41.6.9685 as a workaround. They’ve been dealing with the issue for many months.
Also, this user has a case where the tuner scan is coming up with multiple stations that have nulls in the channel-Identifier triplets. Plex doesn’t catch the null duplicates and assigns an incorrect station to the channel.
@Justina_plex I’m a lifetime member - ever since the “new” experience 8 months ago, I have not been able to use Live TV through Plex. It either crashes with the “Uhh ohh” screen or as now, just freezes. It’s consistent and everything has been tried. How these types of obvious complete failures gets through quality testing (if any) and stays there for almost a year is beyond me. It is lightyears from anything resembling quality software. Shame on you, Plex.
Hello, it’s been over a week and the Live TV / DVR tab on the iOS / iPadOS Plex apps still does not function. It freezes my entire application and requires me to close and reopen the app. I really want to be able to access my local TV from my smartphone once again. Do you have any idea when a fix will roll out? Thank you!
This seemed to be resolved for me by either (A) enabling Plex Live TV for my account which then stopped the infinite spinner and freezing of the mobile app – this allowed me to access my own tuner again, or (B) Plex for Android 2025.30.0 / Plex for iOS 2025.30.0 the bug appears to be resolved in the latest beta update. These worked for me, but I suppose your mileage may vary, regardless good luck!
Totally understood. TestFlight has a limit on how many testers an app can have, it is a limitation put in place by Apple. We do periodically try to clear seats, but they fill up very quickly.
Regarding your actual issue, @marcjt is 100% correct here, there is either a work-around or wait until 2025.30.0 goes beyond beta for a full fix. If things go according to schedule, this should be going out early next week but with the US holiday coming up, there is always the potential of delays or last-minute problems. There will be an announcement in the forums when 2025.30.0 is released to everybody and it will include release notes that call out this issue I believe.
Hey, thank you both for the responses. I have no problem waiting a week or even two, I was just looking for a timeline which you have so kindly provided. I look forward to it being resolved and I completely get it! These things happen. What matters is it’s being worked on. Thanks for the kind and receptive customer service!
Now if you could only fix it on Android that has been broken since day 1 of the new app…and of course trying to get app support or posting a review on the app store just says to come here where all the threads about it being broken seem to be generally ignored.
