This issue is related to the Plex iOS app Crashing in two similar situations while downloading media. I will describe both situations now so that the crashes can be reliably reproduced.
Situation 1)
1.a) start a download of media in the Plex iOS App
1.b) wait until the download is started and the download view shows network activity
1.c) leave the app open and turn off the screen
1.d) wait for around 10-30 seconds
1.e) unlock the device
1.f) Plex App crashes and closes itself
Situation 2)
2.a) start a download of media in the Plex iOS App
2.b) wait until the download is started and the download view shows network activity
2.c) switch to the homescreen or another app
2.d) wait for around 10-30s
2.e) switch back to plex
2.f) Plex crashes and has to restart
The result of the crashing of the Plex app in this instance is that the previously started downloads will be restarted even if finished in the background.
