I just set up a new home user and enabled sync. The user is on an iPhone, with the latest Plex version (as of this writing) but can not see any option to sync. The button just isn’t there. I logged in as the new user on my phone and I do have the sync option and the user can also sync via a browser to their device. I’m at a loss as to why they can not initiate a sync from their device. If I log in as myself (admin) on their device, I do not have the option to sync from the phone itself. I checked all the settings within the app and on the server side as well but can’t figure out what is wrong. Cellular data sync is enabled, there are no issues with WiFi or connectivity, no device settings are preventing the app from storing local data so I’m stuck at this point.
same here. sync is not working for IOS devices: iphone and ipad. Sync icon just gone.
tested also with Plex for Windows - no such issue.
I have also noticed something weird with Sync settings on the client: if i try to change Storage Limit with slider it won’t display the limit and always shows ‘No Limit’
I have just come across this myself. Worse, when I do manage to find a sync button in my music playlists I get an error “Please ask the server owner to allow sync for your account”
I AM the server owner. There’s no button to enable/disable sync for my own account.
This happened to me today as I uninstalled/reinstalled the app on my phone in hopes that offline synced playlists would start working again.
Instead now I can’t sync anything at all.
Things seem to be getting more broken all the time. What is going on here?
Wow, this QC on the iOS app has just been garbage lately. First sync crashes the second you try to use it, then it just disappears. Both of these are things you’d presumably find with two seconds of testing…
Funny thing. The sync button is there if you don’t have Plex Pass. If you click it, it prompts you to subscribe. If you subscribe the sync button disappears. So it works to get your money, but not to give you what you paid for.
What a waste of 5 bucks. I really wanted to test this feature tonight.
Can confirm that the same issue is present for me as well. No sync icon available for media when using the iOS app on an iPad mini. Latest version of Plex and iOS. Uninstalled app and reinstalled to make sure it wasn’t something corrupt in the app. Fun to find out the night before leaving on a trip.
Same issue here. Finally got the wife interested enough tonight to install Plex on her iPad. Go to show her the download sync capability … not there. It was there on my iPad but not her’s. She had just downloaded the app from the iOS App Store. My iOS app was not the latest. Go figure. After spending a couple of hours fiddling I came here to see a bunch of other people are encountering the same thing. I’m a lifetime Plex Pass user. Not a happy camper.
Same sort of issue happening on my Android devices. Sync button is there, but when tapped it just gets stuck in “waiting to be converted” status when I check the progress from the server interface. I have also added media for syncing from the Plex web app on the iPad mini and it does the exact same thing. Shows up on the iPad as “waiting to be converted”. Running Windows 10 server version 1.20.2.3402. Android device is running latest OS (Android 10 - Pixel device) and the iPad is running the latest iOS version. Both clients are running the latest version of the Plex app.
We just downloaded the the latest iOS App on my daughters new iPhone 12, and she is not seeing the option to download. I see there is an update for the Plex Server, so is the Hotfix on the server side or the App side?
