Downloands and sync not working

Download and sync not working on iOS since latest update. Are other people having this issue?

Yes, I am
many threads about this, with no real solutions yet

Yes. Browsing more than three sync’d albums crashes the iOS app, version 7.7 (note app reports v7.8). Was mentioned as fixed in the release notes, but not for me

Deleted app and reinstalled from scratch - now ‘sync’ option does not appear at all. Plex Pass yearly sub. Version 7.6 on iPad still syncs okay. Server version 1.20.2.3402.

Same thing here. I was able to sync from the web interface.
Dear Plex maybe this is the right moment to fix also the problem mentioned here
This will be also very appreciated

Trying to sync on iPad and option isn’t there.I have reset everything and nothing seems to fix it .

Same issue for me. I’m a lifetime member, have been for years.

Core features seem to be degrading, while newer features are being added that I do not need or have any interest in (podcasts? I have an app for that already, thanks).

Is there some way to get hold of the devs and file actual bug reports? This business of core features getting more and more broken needs to be addressed.

I have the same issue. After last iOS update, missing the download for offline option. Currently, my only work around is to sync media directly from the media server to a specific device. Effectively pushing content.

Seems to be working so far.

Edit. One other plus to this, from an iOS stand point when syncing media locally from the device, i always had to leave the app open and turn off Lock and Turn off screen when idle. The push content from server seems to not need the iOS app open, nor does it matter if my iPad is locked/Screen off. A positive from a negative. Hope that helps someone

When you say “sync media directly from the media server” what do you mean here? How are you doing this? Thanks!

Here. This is what i do.

Same here. Plex Server 1.20.2.3402 on Synology and Plex 7.7 on iOS 14.0.1. The download option doesn’t just not work, it’s completely missing for me.

By download, I mean iOS Plex’s ability to download/sync videos for offline viewing.

Ordinarily, if I’m looking at the screen detailing the plot and actors in a movie, next to the check mark icon that indicates whether a video has been viewed, there used to be another icon of a downward-pointing arrow, which allowed me to download a video for offline viewing. That downward-pointing-arrow icon is now missing.

+1 on missing downloads and option to sync on my IOS plex client

did you try to play the media synced that way?
I tried it for audio. it was synced but won’t play

No, I’m sorry I haven’t. Only movies and tv shows. I can play around after work if it and get back to you.

*edit to clarify, I’ve only tested with video media and it works fine, I have not tested with audio files.

I’ve got the same issue. As my ipad app hasn’t updated, the Sync option is still available but every other apple device is missing this option.

Same issue here. Updated to Plex version 7.7 and it immediately stopped working. If anyone knows of a workaround or when it will be fixed I would be very grateful.

I’m having this issue as well. I was able to download an audiobook a few days ago, and now the option is just missing from the menus (iPhone 11).

This is what is not working. I get no “down arrow” icon in my app which I had until either the server update or the ios app update. Whatever it was it is not there now which was the only reason I signed up and got a lifetime pass!

Ok I found the workaround.

Log into plex web viewer on your phone while on the same network. Click what you want to sync and pick your device. It pushes the file to your phone. Long winded. A button that worked as before would be better!

I have logged into the Plex web viewer on my iPad while on the same network. I can add the item for syncing however it is stuck in “waiting to be converted” status. No amount of fiddling will make it start to convert and sync. Of note, this is also happening on my Pixel 2 XL. I can tap the sync icon and the media is just stuck in limbo, never syncing to the device. I am running a Windows 10 server with the latest public release of Plex Media Server and the latest versions of the Plex app on both iOS and Android. I know this is beating a dead horse, buy rather than add free movies and TV shows that no one wants, Tidal, podcasts, etc. can we not just have a stable and functioning app for viewing and syncing our own content?
