iOS downloads not working

Server Version#: 4.87.2
Player Version#: 8.14

Has anyone recently had issues with tying to download content from their Plex server to an iOS device. I have tried to download content for an upcoming trip to watch on the plane. However all of the devices seem to be stuck and refuses to download.

Has anyone got any fixes please?

What is your server doing at that time? Transcoding? How much time did you gave your iOS device?

maybe in a plane Top Gun is not the best movie to watch?

Myself and my wife tried to download earlier in the week and she just noticed that it hadn’t downloaded. Obvs we have different things to download so that rules out that it’s a particular issue with that video.

Also tried rebooting server and not sorted the issue. Seems to be an issue run iOS app.

I have the same problem.
Server Version 4.87.2
iOS Version: 8.15(beta)

Plex downloads have never worked for me on iOS even on full release version 8.14 or previous. I just tried out a Samsung Android the other week as I was thinking about switching over to Android and the downloads were flawless there. Then got a new iPhone 14(previously on the iPhone 12 where I had the same issue) and the issue is back. This definitely seems to be an issue only affecting iOS from the posts I am finding online but nobody has a solution. I am a paying Plex Pass customer and its very frustrating that we cant open a support ticket and get a real answer on this.

DNS Rebinding Protection is disabled on my network. I have tried connecting to my VPN to download locally which has no effect versus remote. I have also tried it locally on my network at home with the same result. I have done a network reset(new phone so shouldn’t need it but whatever). I tried adjusting the download quality. I ensured there are no active transcodes or streams running. I am running a system with a 12900k and adequate hardware. I tried manually adding my server connection in the apps advanced settings but this fails for some reason and I suspect this may be the cause for the problem. I can access Plex via my public IP and port in my web browser on iOS, but the app cant connect to my server with the same method in the app. Can anyone else verify if this is part of the problem? How do I get downloads working on iOS?

Same here.

Downloads fail for a series that seemingly has vobsub subtitles. I see the following errors in the logs:

I have the same problem on iOS, some weeks ago the video download until 25%, then it crashed and went back to 0%, but right now it’s not even going pass 0%

I managed to resolve this problem. Appears that the Plex app just needs to remain on the screen for the content to download. It doesn’t seem to download in the background, but annoying but I left my iPad on the Plex app overnight and content downloaded

Hi, I have the same problem, even keeping the screen on did not resolve the issue for me. This has been a long term problem that they need to fix.

This didnt work for me. I almost immediately get a Data Failed error

I am having no luck with downloads to my iPad. Instant Data Transfer Failed error for all downloads. Not sure the pass is worth paying for anymore.

Ditto here on my iPhone. It worked for a bit. Now it’s broken again
My server is a Synology NAS running DSM

Still broken.
