Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685 (Synology NAS)
Player Version#: 2025.12.0
Just updated the iOS client app to the newest version I discovered that all my previously downloaded movies were corrupted.
I manually deleted them and now I’m unable to download any movie any more.
I checked my settings, I’m on WiFi, plenty of free storage (limit checked in settings as well).
A movie selected for download goes to the download queue but after a few seconds it lands in the Download Errors.
However, I’m not currently at my home, meaning that I’m not connecting to the Plex Server directly. I discovered that the downloads work when I connect to the server via VPN.
I don’t know why I cannot download via indirect connection even though I do have a Plex Pass (I’m aware of the changes).
Same problem here.
iPhone 8+, iOS 16.7.10, Plex App 2025.13.0, Plex Media Server Version 1.41.6.9685, Plex Pass.
All previous downloads say “(Migrated)” and will not play. Black screen, spinning progress wheel indefinitely. Tried deleting and redownloading, but the download gets stuck in “Download Queue”, also indefinitely.
I am also accessing the PMS remotely, VPN connection to server does not appear to fix the problem in my case. I won’t be on the same network as my server again for months, so if turns out that we can no longer download while connected remotely that will be a pretty major issue for me. (I have the same issue whether I am trying on wifi, or on cell data with the download option “wifi only” disabled.)
No server activity (transcoding/downloading) is shown either when I check that side of things.
Telling everyone I know NOT to update to this new app any time soon!!!
I thought perhaps there was an issue porting/migrating the existing data to the new app, so I deleted the app and reinstalled, but the problem persists.
Do we have any update for this issue?
Downloads from outside the local network still don’t work.
New symptom for me are the local network downloads that break in the middle and restart.
However in the server dashboard I can see that the connection is not actually closed, just yet another download process is started from the same client device.
I must then kill the client app to kill the hanging connections.
Can confirm I am seeing the exact same issue. All downloads have stopped working for me on iOS. Old videos were “migrated,” but actually some videos which had multiple streams of audio and subtitles fully reverted to English (if previously set to another language), and all subtitles broke as well.
Very disappointing. Attempted to delete the app, wipe data, and reinstall. All downloads simply remain in a “Queued” state, and will not download, be it over local network, VPN, etc.
Hi Craig, any update on this issue? I’m using an ipad with latest ios and Plex app and having the same issue with all downloads just being in the Queued state. I’m on the local network with the Plex server. All things have been restarted/rebooted.
Please advise. Thank you. Plex Media Server Logs_2025-05-06_18-53-14.zip (3.3 MB)
I am also having the same issue from outside the server network. Really frustrating as there is no progress at all. Would love for this to be solved ASAP
Could y’all try with the most recent release or the beta if you are in the Public Beta?
We fixed a few issues similar to what ya’ll reported around downloads in the last two weeks.
If you are still seeing the issue could you try downloading, get into the queued state, and capture both your App logs and Server logs?
I’m on the latest iOS, latest app and latest server update. The app auto updated and it not only won’t let me download to iOS, it refuses to let me watch stuff I previously downloaded. Very frustrating.
I’ve tried version 2025.17.0 (1082), Plex server 1.41.6.9685 (QNAP) on local network, and while it does claim to “iOS 16 issue where downloads would never start”, the functionality is still broken.
Tested on my iPad Pro (9.7") on iPad OS 16.7.11, after the update, when I download a tv show for example, I can see that it starts transcoding, then wait, and no matter if I keep the app closed or open until it finishes, when it finishes transcoding, starts downloading but at the middle of the process falls into “Download failed”. There were no storage lack or any other ovbious reasons, it just fails without any reason.
This behabiour has already been reported vía test flight.
@Craig_Holliday one more bit of information, I had “Wi-Fi Only” enabled at the time where any downloads were resulting in the error above.
If I turn off “Wi-Fi Only” (per suggestion above), downloads work. Obviously not ideal, as many of us would like to queue downloads for when Wi-Fi is available (especially here in Australia where mobile plans are stupidly expensive).
So it is something to do with the combination of Wi-Fi Only when the iOS device is not connected to Wi-Fi.
@Craig_Holliday just to confirm after `2025.18.0 (1098) I’m also not seeing the download fail behaviour anymore
I’ll still DM logs as you did ask for them, however they will contain previous failures and also the recent success (I didn’t’ let the download complete fully).
Reading through the release notes, quite a few fixes in this release, gives me hope that Live TV might be back on track with a good baseline.
Thank you once again for the engagement, it is appreciated.
