iOS downloads/sync is slow and not robust - won't finish

Server Version#: Synology 1.18.5.2309
Player Version#: iOS 7.1

I have a large lossless (FLAC) music collection on my Plex server. In the past I’ve used the Prism iOS app to download offline copies in lossless format. But I recently learned Plex added download/sync to their client, and it will optionally keep the original file format.

When I try and sync my whole music collection (2267 songs), the sync process over my home WiFi is horrifically slow (compared to Prism’s super fast download on the same WiFi network). I’m also having two stability issues with the sync process.

First, it got to 53 of 2267 files and flashed ‘sync is done’ and the progress bar is now suck at 53 of 2267. Downloading appears to have stopped. If I force close Plex, it forgets what was already downloaded and starts over from 1. It doesn’t appear to have implemented check points, which is poor design IMHO. The sync also doesn’t appear to run in the background, which I’d really like unless there’s an iOS restriction to prevent that.

The Download/Sync engine really needs an overhaul. Is this the best forum to provide constructive feedback for fixing the problems?

Right now I’m stuck using Prism for offline FLAC playback because the native sync is broken.

BTW, using Prism it downloads at 30MB/s to my iPhone and sync’s all 2000+ songs in about 40 minutes.
