Server Version#: Latest Stable
Player Version#: Latest Stable
Platforms Affected: iOS, iPadOS (Tested on iPad Pro M4 and iPhone 16 Pro)
On first launch, the iOS status bar (time, battery, Wi-Fi, etc…) shows normally. When you start playing a video, it hides as expected, and if you bring up the player UI during playback, it comes back, which is all normal. (Though it only reappears in vertical mode, which is fine on a phone, but on an iPad it should come back on both views, IMO.)
The real issue comes after you exit playback and you return to the home screen, the status bar is at this point completely gone and doesn’t come back! You can’t see the time, battery, or anything unless you restart the app. (Sometimes it comes back when starting playback again, and bringing up the player UI, but it never comes back when browsing the app.)
There’s also a separate, related issue only on iPads where, when the status bar is visible, it overlaps with the top UI (buttons, episode title/details) instead of pushing the layout down. It looks unpolished and can make things harder to read.
The iPad also loses the status bar completely after playback, suffering the same issue as the iPhone, but this time it does not come back when playing a video again. Again, in my opinion, the iPad should have the Status bar visible during horizontal playback, if the player UI is open as there is ample room. ( I understand the choice for not having it on a phone, but an iPad should have separate rules)
Not a major bug, but definitely something that should be fixed for usability and general polish.
Thanks!
