So there are literally hundreds of posts both within the forum and on the web about Plex IOS sync being so slow that it is unusable - this has been my experience too!
I don’t know if anyone from PLEX support actually reads any of these posts but, if they do, would it be too much trouble to take notice of your users and do something about this problem.
The main reason I want to use PLEX is to keep my movies available when I don’'t have internet access and it useless in its present form.
If this doesn’t get fixed soon I am going to cancel my subscription and find a solution that actually works.
Yep Its broken for sure.
A 1080p remux at 30Mbps synced down to 4Mbps from a server located in Germany, with the file storage up on Google (wherever that may be hosted) downloaded to my phone in the UK.
12 minutes.
Happy to supply LOGS if needed for why it’s working so well.
Oh wait…
Can you elaborate what you perceive as slow?
If you’re syncing to a mobile device, this involves the video being transcoded… and that will take some time depending on the performance of your server.
When you attempt to sync you should notice the CPU of that NAS to be pretty much fully loaded. The CPU doesn’t provide HW transcoding (at least none that’s supported by Plex)… it’s also more of less a CPU designed for low power devices such as mobile phones (from what I can tell).
You should be able to install a „dummy“ Plex server on your regular PC for testing purposes and try syncing from there and you’ll notice a difference.
