iOS vs Android Plex App available streaming quality options

I have the latest versions of the Plex app from the iOS and Google play store.

Test devices

Iphone xs
Note 10 plus.

I have found that the android app does not have the 4K options. Over wifi I can stream at full quality on both phones, however when I am on remote wifi, only the iOS app shows the 4k stream quality options. Is this just bc the iOS app supports it?

Have you tried clicking on Show all in the Android version?

Sorry, yes I did. I updated my screenshot to show all.

I wonder if 4K is never an option in the mobile Android version, or if it doesn’t show up on that device because the screen resolution isn’t 4K.

Since the Note 10/Plus can record 4K video, I’m sure it has the hardware to decode and scale 4K appropriately.

Amusingly, I recently noticed that my Roku shows the 4K and 720p options, but NOT the 1080p options.

Yeah its weird. The note 10 plus has a higher resolution screen then the iPhone xs. So you would think if anything it would be the note 10 plus.

2K option would be perfect though.

So, to clarify, you’re saying the Android app is supposed to have a 4K option available normally, it’s just not showing here for some reason? I myself have a Google TV Chromecast attached to a 1080p TV and it also doesn’t show any setting above 1080p/20 even though higher options would be really useful even on a non-4K TV for a number of reasons you can probably imagine. What can we do to have these options show?
