Ip banned from http://tvdb2.plex.tv/

Server Version#: 1.16.5.1554
Player Version#: 3.108.2

Just installed new server and my 10 something different tv shows wont update metadata, all my movie collection many thousands was no problem but my few tv shows didnt work,i tested if i could reach the site http://tvdb2.plex.tv/ and i cant,if i use a vpn i get the java site as normal, how come i seemingly got ip banned with only 10 shows to download metadata for?

Log files please?

Not using logging currently ill turn it on again and post later, i tested with pointing http://tvdb2.plex.tv/ to api.tvdb.com instead in host file and all shows downloaded cover images and got matches instantly so im quite sure my ip got banned or so

I request DEBUG logging on, VERBOSE logging off.

When VERBOSE is on and recording, it only captures 2 minutes due to the limited buffer size

Cant seem to find where it fails though its no error on screen either it just says no match, but then again if i try access the url in my browser from same ip i get nothing, but again with vpn i get the java something page https://paste.debian.net/1098201/

Please allow me to clarify what I’m requesting:

  1. Verify DEBUG logging on, VERBOSE logging off.
  2. Perform the scan
  3. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
  4. Attach the ZIP file

So thats where the logs are hidden no wonder mine where so slim, will be browsing through it see if i get any clues as to my other question about the app not working only the older ones, just curious though how come this cant be put into syslog,i always fiddle with that first before other app specific ones heres my log, i started a new server aswell to test https://www.justbeamit.com/75fjn although the new server is from official docker repository might mention still same behaviour

I am unfortunately useless at setting up Docker. The ‘claiming’ process is a lot different unless it’s using bridge / its own IP on your LAN (as if another host).

I’m not at all knowledgeable . My expertise is with the host native app and the OS/packaging (where I do my development work)

Its ok,i am however positive that this is 100% network related and im fairly certain my ip is getting blocked for whatever reason, and its quite obvious when you see this screenshot https://imgur.com/a/EaNh6wd this is with vpn/socks proxy and we can see the java something interface, and when im not using vpn/socks proxy the page wont even load, all ports on firewall are opened for debug purpose, also if there was something else doing it then it shouldnt work remapping the domain name to the official tvdb ip either, and as that works im leaning towards this being my ip blocked rather than my server being at fault. Ill try see if i can find my mac changer script and try force an ip renew to fix it thanks for help though

IF you will show me your PMS Server Logs, I can look.

I’m sorry but I can’t tell from these little snippets. I need to see the sequence of events to determine where it’s breaking down.

Ill setup a new regular server tomorrow and provide logs, for now thanks for your help.

When you set it up,

  1. First setup without the VPN.
  2. Verify that works.
  3. Now add the VPN.
  4. Compare the results.

Sorry for late reply, havent had time, now either to setup the proper way, however problem still persists,i did another docker install to test and exact same results,i see alot of these in the com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb.log

“INFO (init:369) - Searching for exact match with: MYTVSERIE+%282001%29 (lang: en)
2019-10-17 20:07:24,937 (randomnumbers) : DEBUG (networking:166) - Requesting ‘https://tvdb2.plex.tv/login

2019-10-17 20:07:36,068 (randomnumbers) : INFO (init:140) - JWT Error: ()”

A few of these aswell

2019-10-17 20:10:26,339 (randomnumbers) : INFO (init:1113) - Bad series data, no update for TVDB id: 78261 (lang: en)
2019-10-17 20:10:26,339 (randomnumbers)

Ill try to get a vpn setup or change my ip somehow to check,i did noticed though however this time although it took some time i think 5 minutes it did manage to match one tv serie i had, but no posters or any description or so got downloaded but i atleast got up the menu with alternatives,i think only date series was aired got added nothing more. Also i noticed when i use the Auto Match feature it does absolutely nothing it just returns me to the deck without doing anything

** Update
Ive tested with same official container on another host with another ip and it works without a problem so being ive also tested with a same clean official docker container on same host as the one in question im again thinking my ip might been banned or throttled so im not able to download. Ill see if i can test the vpn setup anytime soon to confirm, but i think its pretty much narrowed down now, seeing as the metadata agent is working fine for movies and its only the tvdb one which isnt working that should rule out any error in config of the container itself like dns and routing i would think

Edit: turns out i was indeed ip banned, only not on remote side but on my own system
